October in Colorado. ✨

Last month at @leishner’s wedding, @joeparkin was telling me all about his new bike shop in Buena Vista, CO. I knew nothing about this area (other than doing a few collegiate races at the Darner Ranch & @sickmick83 mentioning the area) and was super intrigued by the seemingly random location - I remembered it as being the land of the fourteener’s 🗻🗻🗻🗻🗻and not much else. I said I would try and come by some time so I could see it with my own eyes - yesterday, en route to Moab, that time came. Joe & @simon.stewart recently bought @boneshakercycles, a cool little shop with some seriously good bones. ;) The community seems to be thriving. It’s a super cute town with good energy & cool shops. The location is beautiful nestled in the Arkansas valley below the 14er’s - a valley which is rideable year round, free of snow & mud...in Colorado. I admire leaps like this, particularly when quality of life & happiness are at the root of a decision - the need to be going a million miles an hour at all times is overrated. I think that is one of my biggest takeaways in my travels, just observing what makes people happy - it’s time, it’s community, it’s space, it’s presence, it’s activities, it’s relationships, it’s movement. You can only make space for it. ☺️ If you are in the area or looking for a cool new spot to ride, I think that this is a spot you should check out. I can’t wait to visit on my next time through to ride & see what the shop becomes. :)

Sound ON 🔈 & swipe 👉🏽! I hit snow on my way to Colorado and all the trails on the Front Range were snowy so I used the opportunity to head up to Estes Park to check out the elk rut which I’ve never had the opportunity to see (despite going to @cuboulder) so I drove around @rockymountainnationalpark looking for elk and saw a couple dozen but they weren’t making any sounds or movements. As I was starting to head out of town, I came across this large heard and stayed watching them for ages. It was SO COOL. It was interesting watching all the dynamics between the 10 bulls, the younger bulls, all the females & even babies. ✨✨✨✨

Bentonville is a pretty remarkable little mountain bike community. There are trails EVERYWHERE! Like really good, purpose built trails with tons of progressions and easy navigation. It's actually kinda crazy! And so much public art. And world class art that is rare outside a major city. And good food and cute places 🤗 I've been chasing the weather 🌧❄️⛄️🌬💦 this past week which isn't always conducive to lots of big days exploring on the bike - it poured my entire time in Bentonville...but I can't wait to come back. Massive thanks to @lewisandclarkoutfitters for the hospitality and all around great vibes. ☺️ #howweliv
