Sharing opportunities and empowering others is something I am passionate about. One of the coolest things about being an athlete is being able to share the things that I care about with more people than I might otherwise reach. Here are a couple of organizations that I really care about…
Right to Play uses sport and play to enhance the lives of kids around the world. For as long as I can remember sports have been a huge part of my life…swimming, softball, soccer, water polo, skiing, snowboarding…you name it, I loved it. Sports have given my confidence, drive, self esteem. They have taught me to work hard and work with others. In many parts of the world, play is not a part of everyday life. Right to Play uses play to teach kids these life skills and lessons. Projects: Fundraisers, NYC Marathon
Sometimes having someone to look up to is all you need. Ride Like a Girl is a mentorship program to get more girls competing on bikes. If you know a girl that might benefit from mentorship and/or a scholarship, look here!
The Women’s Sports Foundation supports equality in sports for women, it advocates for quality, educates the public and offers suport for female athletes. We can do anything they can do!
NICA is a high school mountain bike program that is growing rapidly across the USA. Projects: Coached the Scotts Valley Composite Team for 2011-12
First Gear is the community development division out of Specialized whose main focus is getting kids on bikes. Although bikes were not a big part of my life from an early age, sports were. Now that I am all “grown up”, the importance of bikes and sport is all the more obvious. I want to share my love and passion for bikes with the new generation. Projects: Jamaica BMX Project
